Uncle John’s Farm

Every summer, Mia and Liam couldn’t wait for their visit to Uncle John’s farm. The sprawling fields, the chirping birds, and the animals were all part of the magic that made the farm their favorite place in the world.

“Morning, kids!” Uncle John would greet them with a big smile, his weathered hat perched atop his head. “Ready for a day of farm fun?”

Mia and Liam nodded eagerly. Their days were always filled with adventure—feeding the chickens, brushing the cows, and riding the big red tractor that Uncle John used to plow the fields. They especially loved the afternoons when they got to pick fresh fruits from the orchard. Apples, peaches, and strawberries—it was like a sweet treasure hunt in the sun.

One summer, as they wandered across the fields, Uncle John called them over. “I’ve got a new project for us today!” he said with a twinkle in his eye. “We’re going to build a scarecrow.”

Mia’s eyes widened. “A scarecrow? For the garden?”

“That’s right!” Uncle John said. “We need it to keep the crows away from the cornfield.”

Liam, always the hands-on one, jumped in. “I can help! What do we need?”

Uncle John smiled and set them up with the materials. They had an old pair of jeans, a straw hat, some twine, and plenty of hay. Together, they started building “Mr. Crowbuster,” as they decided to call him.

Mia carefully stuffed the jeans with straw, while Liam tied the arms together. Uncle John helped them attach a wooden post to the back of the scarecrow, and soon, Mr. Crowbuster was standing tall in the middle of the cornfield. His wide straw arms stretched out to the sides, and his cheerful smile seemed to watch over the crops.

“Perfect,” Uncle John said, stepping back to admire their work. “Mr. Crowbuster is ready to do his job!”

As the days passed, Mia and Liam loved visiting Mr. Crowbuster. They would walk by him each morning, making sure his hat stayed on and his arms didn’t droop. The scarecrow had become the farm’s unofficial mascot, and everyone—animals included—seemed to respect him.

One evening, as the sun began to set and the golden light bathed the fields, Mia said, “Mr. Crowbuster is the best scarecrow ever. He looks like he’s watching over the whole farm.”

Liam agreed. “I think the crows will stay away for sure!”

Uncle John smiled, his heart full of pride. “That’s the power of teamwork, kids. With a little bit of creativity and a lot of hard work, we made something special.”

And so, Mr. Crowbuster stood tall for many summers to come, always guarding the farm with a smile, as Mia and Liam returned each year, eager to make more memories on Uncle John’s farm.

The End.
